This year, I asked ChatGPT to describe the value that my general position brings to a company, and it rattled off a bunch of abstract qualities that fit the bill. I distilled that down to a single sentence and used that to describe my “contribution to the business goals”. My final answer wasn’t total bullshit, but there’s no way I would have come up with it on my own. I think part of the reason is that we often are “in the weeds” of the organizational hierarchy and lack sufficient perspective about how we fit into the bigger picture.
