Marc Benioff tells Salesforce workers that new employees are less productive
- jleyank 4y agoI would think that unless you’re doing a startup together than all new employees in any business are less productive. This strikes me as by definition as they can’t be expected to know the processes (and environment) unless they work in it for a while. In the office will help with culture but everything else comes with experience. If you can’t provide useful work to those out of physical contact, get people who can. I’m sure salesforce has more than one office.
- karaterobot 4y agoNew employees are less productive than veteran employees. And, when you increase head count in an already large company by 32% in a year, you should expect to lose institutional knowledge, on average, until new employees come up to speed. And, undoubtedly, it's harder to transfer institutional knowledge in a remote environment IF you have a primarily oral, face-to-face culture. The solution is to start documenting your practices so that remote and asynchronous employees can learn them too.
