Corporate execs: Get back, get back, to the office
- throwawaysleep 4y agoI will do the bare minimum until I get another job if you drag me in for so much as a day in the office.
- galaxyLogic 4y agoThe way I see it is one or two days in the office per week rest at home, depending on how far you live. I mean why shouldn't a US company be able to hire from South America where there is no time-difference? But back to the hybrid model: Coming to office for a day to present what you have done and plan for the next week is great. Then working from home is like a "sprint", (remember Agile?). Point is when you are physically present only one day you must spend it well to do much of your communications, and then you are ready to sprint the actual work that needs to be done. I do believe there is a benefit to physical meetings, if possible. You feel more like you are part of the team. It is much easier to be rude to people when you are far away. And email, it is the worst because it leaves a permanent record of insults made.
- Kon-Peki 4y agoOur office lease is up in less than 2 years, and our CEO said that he’s been out looking at smaller places sized for the number of people that actually want to come in. He said he’s finding a lot of places that had $$$$ spent on them a year or two before Covid. These kind of places wouldn’t be on the market if we were the only company not planning to drag people back into the office. We’ll probably end up with about half the space we had before; on any given day about 25-33% of staff has voluntarily come in and it’s never the exact same people every day. Plus, we’re hiring and need at least some room for growth.
