I didn’t read OP as making any comparison, nor needing correction. I can say I think beating one’s offspring is bad, without needing to qualify that I think throwing them into a volcano is worse. Granted it can be good to raise awareness when someone expresses a moral judgment of atrocities which might reach further than their stated objections. But it can be done without making assumptions about their position on those further reaches.
