Nuclear plants absolutely should take longer to build than a coal plant. Of course coal plants are awful and can cause environmental disasters, but when there is a flaw in their design or construction they don't make an entire area uninhabitable for a generation or more.
Once more for the people in the back; we do not need nuclear. Renewables and storage are cheaper, faster and less risky.
- LorenPechtel 4y agoStorage has nothing viable on the horizon, let alone in production. I will agree it's less risky--because risk is an unknown and thus a certain failure isn't a risk.
- greenthrow 4y agoStorage is here and working and cheaper than nuclear. Try again.
- LorenPechtel 4y agoWhat storage are you talking about? We use batteries for very small scale storage, just long enough to spin up something better. To actually store power for night is several times as expensive as the power in the first place.
