TLDR: Cause unknown, maybe related to freezing temps.
- zeristor 4y agoI heard that too, but it’s in the hotel, it’s in a tropical aquarium doesn’t that mean tropical temperatures? Germany has made an effort to reduce electricity usage, and I’d imagine this would require huge amounts. Had they removed the fish and let it cool? I guess its cylindrical shape is dependent on it being full of water, so they could drain it. I am not any sort of expert by the way. Perhaps I should put that caveat at the top of my reply.
- throw827474737 4y agoNo you are right. All the fish were in there (and most now dead :(), this is a hotels lobby that maybe was a few degrees colder than previous winters, but still comfortable - and the fishes also need their temperature. Except > I guess its cylindrical shape is dependent on it being full of water no, or how do you mean that?
- throw827474737 4y agoThis is really nonsense, and it was already nonsense shortly after it happened, why does such rumor even stick on HN? Most likely, and officials assume it too, is material fatigue.
- breckenedge 4y agoI simply quoted the linked article to save you some reading time. AP News also mentioned temperature as a possible cause.
