Abandonment isn't the problem here. I'm sure Tesla wouldn't be worse off if Elon paid token attention to it. It's more that the face of the company is using a huge megaphone to antagonize everybody. That going to hurt demand not just the stock price.

Musk’s personal attention isn’t the only Tesla resource that has been diverted by the acquisition; Musk has been using Tesla staff to perform tasks for Twitter associated with looking out for his interests after the acquisition. [0] (Sure, its described as being done “on a voluntary basis” and “after hours”, but these are salaried staff without fixed hours, and “volunteering” time for your bosses other businesses has the same consent and conflict of interest problems as other “free, consensual” exchanges where the same power dynamic exists, which is why most workplaces strictly look askance at people in authority within the organization using that position to recruit subordinates for their outside business ventures; obviously, as CEO, there is no one in the organization to hold Musk to those kind of standards, but investors are likely to be concerned with it in the CEO for the same reasons upper management would be concerned with that behavior in lower management in most organizations. Public corporations, particularly, are not personal toy boxes for their CEOs.
