Big Tech Companies Join Linux in Effort to Kill Google Maps
- deafpolygon 4y agoI'll support it if they promise not to abuse this new platform for tracking and mining its user data.
- wan_ala 4y agotbh I would only trust it if the software worked so that they wouldn't be able to abuse it for tracking (i.e not centralized). Although i am not sure how you would implement that in a geolocation tool.
- deafpolygon 4y agoimplement zero-logging. but that's not profitable.
- jarofgreen 4y agoWhat will be this projects relation to open street map?
- _emacsomancer_ 4y agoYeah, I think I will stick to OpenStreetMaps. Otherwise what am I closing l choosing between? Google or Microsoft+Facebook+Amazon. Talk about out of the pot and into the ~~fire~~ blazing inferno.
- nxmnxm99 4y agoLesser of two evils but I haven’t used google maps in years. Apple maps has done everything I need and is far better from a privacy perspective
- mqus 4y ago"Join Linux" -> "And the Linux Foundation" ftfy, gizmodo. "linux" is not an entity which would make sense in this title imho.
