I think that fission will solve some of its long lived depleted fuel problems sooner than fusion will(!) Just like with climate change, for nuclear we need to forge ahead with our best knowledge, engineering and belief in the future and our competency to solve problems. Let's use the best of our problem solving ability. To decline to do what we think is the best just because of long-held stereotypes, that just holds us back.
