Mastodon has been an incredible blessing in my life. I’ve connected with some incredible people; even in real life, through it - and my server (tech.lgbt) has a feed that harkens back to the good old days of Internet forums and IRC chat groups. I’ve turned at least half a dozen of my friends and both my partners onto it, and I’ve gotta say, that beyond an initial rather annoying setup process that desperately needs to be streamlined, Mastadon is everything I’d want a social network to be. I can see myself easily ditching all the rest of my socials except LinkedIn this year in favour of Mastodon. I basically literally keep Instagram around to chat with one of my partners and rarely use Facebook anymore. I might keep Messenger and just ditch the FB profile part. Has Mastodon had a profound effect for anyone else here? I was extremely sceptical; but now evangelical.
