Twitter suspends JoinMastodon account for posting link to ElonJet tracker
- lapcat 4y agoIt appears that the @drewharwell account this submission links to has also been suspended for some reason. More discussion here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34007012 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34007012
- elahieh 4y agoThanks for pointing that out, that happened faster than I could hit reload. Drew Harwell is a Washington Post technology reporter who has worked there since 2014. The text of that tweet (almost certainly what got him suspended - not sure whether it was the reporting on mastodon or the sarcasm about "Loving the free speech") was Twitter just suspended a competitor's account (@joinmastodon ) because it posted a link to its own website's version of @ElonJet - public, legally acquired data that Twitter decided two days ago was against the rules. Loving the free speech (h/t @mmasnick )
- elahieh 4y agoNow Oliver Darcy, CNN media reporter, has posted a screenshot of Drew Harwell's tweet - will he be suspended too? https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1603549297714290692 https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1603549297714290692 text: It appears Twitter has banned the accounts of Aaron Rupar (@atrupar ) and Washington Post reporter @drewharwell . Unclear why, but this seems to be the final tweet from Harwell.
- minimaxir 4y agoNYT Journalist Ryan Mac and CNN Journalist Donie O'Sullivan has also been suspended, who had similar final tweets. https://twitter.com/katienotopoulos/status/1603551770436845570 https://twitter.com/katienotopoulos/status/16035517704368455... https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1603552389394583555 https://twitter.com/oliverdarcy/status/1603552389394583555
- mmastrac 4y agoThis is getting more Monty Python-esque every hour. Those responsible for reporting on the banning have been banned.
- nkozyra 4y agoThis guy has the absolute thinnest skin in town, huh?
