Musk threatens legal action against Twitter user who tracked his jet
- Linux_Watcher 4y agoTracking someone's personal jet? I'm dead. What an idiot, they deserve to have legal action brought against them.
- halfmatthalfcat 4y agoFlight tracking data is publicly available. All this dude did was tweet it. There's no legal question here. If anyone is the idiot, it's Musk for going back on his word.
- jacquesm 4y agoThat and technically he was already aware of it and enabling it. Besides the fact that him tweeting location and time of his children (not his utterly unrelated aircraft) isn't a problem when he is doing it himself.
- Linux_Watcher 4y agoFAA policy lets owners of private jets request that their plane’s identities be blocked from public display
- LinuxBender 4y agoI am not a lawyer but I assume for the legal action to do anything Elon would have to prove damages? Later Wednesday, referencing his toddler son, Musk tweeted: “Last night, car carrying lil X in LA was followed by crazy stalker (thinking it was me), who later blocked car from moving & climbed onto hood." It was not clear who the “stalker” was that Musk referenced in his tweet or whether that incident was related to the use of Musk’s location data. Would attempted harm be viewed by a judge as damages? Any lawyers here? How would he prove the connection from tweeting location -> stalker -> attempted harm? Would the harm be the trauma of the event or perhaps the cost of added security guards?
- RavingGoat 4y agoThat was proven to not be near an airport and not on a day that his jet was flying. There was no police report filed either. It's pure fiction.
