I'm more and more convinced that some choices a society makes are just completely arbitrary - I'll let anyone take a crap job to make ends meet but I won't allow anyone to prostitute themselves - and there's nothing wrong with that. The more important thing is not if it's allowed or not but if you allow it how do you deal with the problems it creates or if you forbid it how do you go about dealing with the problems that prohibition creates. I don't think anyone should consider selling that level of intimacy reasonable - it's bad for both parties - but the approach towards stopping it needs to be done with a level of sympathy for both parties that's not typical for most things society disapproves of.
