IMO, public road, public code.
- cobaltoxide 4y agoThat's a nice phrase, but it seems impractical given the enormous complexity of these systems.
- linuxftw 4y agoImpractical or not, public streets belong to the public, and the public gets to dictate how they are used or not used. I'm willing to negotiate. If companies don't want to release their code, they can put up $50M in a trust, and $1M bond per car, and automatically accept at-fault for any fatalities involving one of their self-driving units, with a minimum of $1M paid out for each deceased to their survivors.
