This seems like a pretty typical video in an area that FSD doesn't handle well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIvfNHwZsCc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xIvf

I bet this is extremely common.
To be fair, we've never seen a test of Waymo or Cruise on the same road, as they are only available on certain specific roads that have been well tested. I'm not making a judgment here as to whether that is good or bad.
- jfoster 4y agoThere's so many decent quality FSD videos on YouTube. Why watch the one where you can hardly see what's in front of the car?
- _ea1k 4y agoCredibility. That's Jason Hughes who owns a third party shop that repairs Teslas. He has a long history of reporting fairly, both positive and negative. He also lives in a fairly rural area that hasn't gotten a lot of attention from FSD YTers. The fact that some of his first FSD trips showed major issues is very telling.
- jfoster 4y agoI find a video that gives a better view more credible. Chuck Cook's videos are amazing for going deep on FSD's handling of some very specific driving scenarios. He even usually has a drone overhead to give a better view of the surrounds.
- _ea1k 4y agoHis videos are great, but they also cover a lot of ground that has been tested heavily by Tesla employees. They don't always translate well to how things might work in Hickory, NC. And, tbh, those Chuck Cook videos show FSD doing some really dumb things fairly often.
- jfoster 4y agoI'm commenting on the quality of the video rather than the quality of FSD. More visibility equals more insight into the actual performance (or nonperformance) of FSD. A video where I can't see what's in front of the car is worthless.
- _ea1k 4y agoIts not worthless when one of the significant events was it cutting off a car that was traveling at high speed. That should literally never happen.
