- dan_zaitsev 4y agoHey HN community I'm Dan Zaitsev, a digital nomad, and maker from Ukraine. I recently started recording my travel vlog, and I realized that it is so tough to switch between cameras and different applications.I've built a new iOS app that allows users to separate iPhone camera screens and use Google Maps simultaneously. Also, we use Google SDK/API to get data about different places, sights, routes, etc., so you can tell about them on the go.To validate PoC/MVO quickly, I used Google SDK and the webview, so users have the same UX as on default Google Maps. Sure, I'm a fan of native user experience, and if this concert survives, I will integrate native SDK and improve UX. In terms of monetization, I used a one-time payment model of $1.99 per download. - billylo 4y agoCongrats on the launch and nice work! I combined Google Maps with camera in my app too, but for a different purpose. It's for drivers who uses a phone mount, so they can record dashcam-like video while using Google Maps. In addition, the video stream is analyzed to show traffic signs, warn about pedestrians, school zones, etc. Sidekick-app.com
