I do this at home, but my items are geared towards musicmaking. Every guitarist knows picks always go missing - buy hundreds and leave them around the house. Same goes for instrument cables: why should you EVER have to deal with running out? I try to facilitate creativity by making it as easy as possible for me to create. This also applies to your work area, the kitchen, etc. Also, after getting a couple flat tires on my bike, I stocked up on tubes so that I wouldn't ever have to worry about that again.
