The article says that the immune system in the nose does not work as good in colder temperatures. It is suggested to wear face masks to breathe warmer air.
My question is do we need to discard/wash masks more often in the winter? I’m not a biologist but in my understanding the colder outside temperature means more water vapor condensates on the mask which then should in my theory lead to a higher spread of bacteria and fungi.
