I would say that pennies for the instructors, giant bills for the students, and huge numbers of well-compensated administrators are all qualities of the modern progressive university. Please, tell me of a non-progressive university; where students pay the same real-dollar amount that their grandparents paid in the '60s, where instructors are compensated enough such that their annual salary is 1/3 the list price of a house in the nicest neighborhood within 20 minutes of work, and there is only one fulltime administrator or bureaucrat for every thirty faculty.

- dendrite9 4y agoNot just to be tribal but is that any different from the majority of non progressive universities? I think there are still a small number of, generally small, schools that don't fit this description but beyond that it doesn't seem those quality are any different in progressive or less progressive universities. I'm certainly on the outside at this point in my life but it feels like a fucked up version of regulatory capture that has taken over the whole field. (Administrative capture?)
