- clouddrover 4y agoIt isn't. Your utopia is utterly disconnected from practical realities and is unworkable.
- yucky 4y agoIt's not Utopian, of course many things would be more difficult without the constant threat of force. But the question was "is democracy compatible with freedom", and by definition it is not. How much you value democracy (and the constant threat of force) vs freedom is up to you, but we can't pretend they work well together. And we're seeing democracies being destabilized around the world now, even in the US.
- clouddrover 4y ago> But the question was "is democracy compatible with freedom", and by definition it is not. You're talking in circles. You say you want a rules based society and you believe that society is going to work by some form of magic. That is naive. The real world doesn't work by magic. I'll say it again: you need to learn your history. > And we're seeing democracies being destabilized around the world now, even in the US. Yes, deliberately undermined by, among other things, election deniers funded by Thiel.
- yucky 4y ago> But the question was "is democracy compatible with freedom", and by definition it is not. You keep skipping past this part, which was the question. I have no idea what election deniers have to do with anything. Maybe Thiel kicks puppies too, I dunno. It's just not relevant.
- clouddrover 4y agoLook, at this point you're not keeping up with your own comments.
