An interesting anecdote, recently I was driving to Switzerland to do my early skiing trip. This is a trip I've done more times then I can count, and it was never an issue. However, this time I drove there during night (normal) but also during heavy snowfall. Heavy enough that I couldn't see the road and that I couldn't even pay attention to the navigation other then follow it. The end result was me getting on a 60kmh road (instead of the highway) where no one drove for hours. I actually got in a car accident, car total loss and hit a fence. It was bad enough that both a towing company, police and the fire department showed up.
Right after the crash, my iPhone sounded an alarm and it actually notified me that I had an N amount of seconds before it would automatically call the alarm number. I cancelled that, and then it asked if I wanted to notify my emergency contacts. I also cancelled it because the accident didn't cause any physical problems.
When that moment happend I thought "wow, this is actually good. Imagine I was unconscious and I couldn't call the emergency number. I am surprised that it is so accurate and never gave a false positive." I left it on and didn't think twice about it.
Fast forward 3 days later (today), I spent multiple hours skiing and at some point I got on a lift and I heard the same alarm. What happened? I slightly (really, slightly) bumped into the turning pole, or maybe the seat itself, not sure and it detected a crash. It actually called the emergency number before I could cancel it and it almost notified my emergency contacts. Interestingly enough, for some reason it couldn't connect to the alarm number. I don't know if it was the mountains or anything, but it called and failed.
Anyway, in conclusion: I turned it off.
