Trakt Has Been Down for Two Days
- i13e 4y agoTheir official update from last night: "On Dec 11 at 7:30 PST, our main database crashed & corrupted some of the data. This is unplanned & we've been working around the clock to restore it. It's a painstakingly slow process given the scale of data. We unfortunately have no ETA but we're doing everything we can." https://www.reddit.com/r/trakt/comments/zkle8t/trakt_downtime_official_update/ https://www.reddit.com/r/trakt/comments/zkle8t/trakt_downtim... - miyuru 4y agoIts been 4 days now. It seems like they ran the DB in a single node config. ouch.
- sacnoradhq 4y agoMost people don't know what clustering or backups (tested) mean. Or the difference between backups and replication. Replicate drop tables, there are no more tables. Not necessarily in this instance, but non-zero people espouse "HA is too brittle and too complicated" to rationalize not putting in the work to ensure resiliency and instead double-down on shrug at operational excellence.
