I think it's a reflection of western society. Working in the US and later back in Canada I have had a feeling of dislocation and malaise about the world. The last couple of years due to Covid has really accelerated this feeling. Before I used to never understand the tribal nature of politics but now I increasingly get it. I can see why right wing and left wing are so viscerally against one another. It is about two fundamentally different world views - and increasingly incompatible.
