I feel the same- I did not have a decent outcome, aside from being able to say I built all of this stuff, essentially myself, with our team eventually only being 5 devs total. I would say that I will not ever work again for a company that does not have market fit without a few whole percentage points at MINIMUM.

- beambot 4y agoUnless you're a senior executive, it's unlikely you'll get whole percentage points for a post-PMF startup... Just looked on OptionImpact: Senior-most individual contributor (SWE 6) at a post-SeriesA startup indicates a 50th percentile equity grant at 0.28%. If you go all the way up to 90th percentile, you get to 1.1%. Beyond SeriesB+, there are no full-percentage point grants for IC Software Engineers. Managers & Directors have similar equity grants post-SeriesA. CTO post-SeriesA is 1.5% (50th) and 3.75% (90th). VP Eng is 0.8% (50th) and 2.1% (90th). So even as an exec, whole percentage points aren't a foregone conclusion. YMMV, but that's the data.
