Crypto spam bots go silent while Musk promises to prosecute scammers
- bediger4000 4y agoCan you still get 20-30 obvious bot replies if you post about recovering the keys to your crypto wallet? Or asking for help with an essay school assignment?
- anigbrowl 4y agolater explained that they've found a small number of people behind a large number of bot/troll accounts and the platform will be shutting down IP addresses of “known bad actors.” 'We took down a bot network everyone' is about a quarterly occurrence on large social media platforms, often following a period of poor PR outcomes. I'm still seeing lots of comment spam that shouldn't even exist considering how cheap it is to roughly calculate the Hamming distance. Like if someone tweeting the same comment to happening threads every 15-20 seconds, and the platform is still relying on manual reports to detect this, something is terribly wrong. To be clear, this problem predates Musk's ownership.
