I would love to be able to use a real browser on iPad, but nope! You get Safari and you’ll like it.
- kcplate 4y agoHere is what I like—I like when I go to use my device and it just works. If the trade off to that is a single browser, i’m totally ok with it. I can count on one hand and have multiple fingers leftover the number of times I have HAD to reboot, restart, or do any troubleshooting whatsoever on my ipads after nearly a decade of owning them.
- smoldesu 4y agoOkay? Who's taking that away from you?
- kcplate 4y agoNever said anyone was. I just said I like a no trouble device even if it means limited options in exchange for that reliability.
- warning26 4y agoI take it you've exclusively bought the pricy ones; try using Safari for a week on one of the entry-level devices, and you'll find it leaks memory like a sieve and easily gets in such a state that the only way to get websites to load without crashing is to reboot it. Is Apple QA aware of the issue? Probably not, since they presumably only test on the high-end models.
- kcplate 4y agoMy wife uses one that was 1/3 the cost of my iPad Pro and has no complaints. What you say about memory leaks may be true, but I’d be willing to bet short of reboots around software updates and despite many hours of daily use, I’d be willing to bet that she has never actually rebooted the device in the 3 years she has owned it. So your experience about it requiring reboot is in our experience, false.
