In the experiment with the children an authority figure (including full medical suit) was put in front of them and told them "do these instructions". The chimp wouldn't have that pressure. It's not quite the same experiment. It would be interesting if you put 5 boxes in front of children and told them they had 1 minute to get as many sweets as they could, if they would still follow all the steps.
