I went with Epson as well after having a xerox laser printer for about a decade. The xerox allowed me to do aftermarket toner and it work decently well, but it's still had issues. Sadly a good laser printer, the toner is just far too expensive. When I was researching the Epson printers, I learned about pigment ink and how it doesn't smear with water like traditional inkjet printers did. It's worked really well for the last few years I've had it.
