- EGreg 4y agoThis is basically what people wishing happy birthday on Facebook has become, along with the customary expressions of thanks. Automated to be able to do it for all your 3000 “friends”. Words Facebook has majorly cheapened: Friend Like Meta
- ianlevesque 4y agoCan we have one thread without bashing facebook? It’s incredibly off topic.
- djmips 4y agoIt's relevant to the topic.
- EGreg 4y agoIt is. And one day you will have to answer to the children of this guy!
- DonHopkins 4y agoMark, you're becoming as thin skinned as Elon!
- elwell 4y agoNot to mention it's not even a book, it's a website.
- kmonsen 4y agoI have a friend who passed away many years ago. We are still Facebook friends. Many of her Facebook friends still wish her happy birthday every year. I just cannot think how sad that must be for the husband.
- CGamesPlay 4y agoLots of people visit cemeteries on the birthdays of the deceased. Better to celebrate the birthday than the death day. Lots of mutual Facebook friends of mine and my deceased friends with them happy birthday, and they all know that the person is deceased.
- kmonsen 4y agoCould be that's the case but I don't think so.
- bentcorner 4y agoI've removed my birthday from Facebook for this reason. I know people have the best of intentions but I really do not want to reply to a bunch of messages wishing me well. It is just plain awkward and an unpleasant activity.
- civopsec 4y agoI can never understand the FB “friend” bugbear. It’s just a name for a relation. It has no implied connection to how people relate elsewhere. Calling it “acquaintance” would be more accurate if you really insist on such a connection. But that isn’t exactly catchy: “I sent you an acquaint request on FB”; “let me just post this question to my FB acquaintances”
- sevrinsky 4y agoThis is basically the premise of Robert Sheckley's short story "The Robot Who Looked Like Me".
