This is just not true. MIT competes in Division III and has 41 varsity teams according to wikipedia. I'm not sure if they give out any athletic scholarships.

- tesseract 18y agoYou can't give athletic scholarships in D3. MIT has one D1 sport, rowing. I'm not sure whether they give athletic scholarships for it, but without bothering to check, I suspect not.
