Pure politics is clearly and officially the only reason why Google does things these days. Best image codec on the planet has "not enough interest from ecosystem". Being able to say this on a public mailing list with a straight face goes a very long way in showing how disconnected from reality folks at Google now are. And it seems that comment comes from someone who claims to be an engineer ... that also goes to show the quality of engineers who still work there, where reality doesn't seem to factor in decision making anymore. There was a time where one of Google's motto was "put the user first and everything else will follow". LOL, how things have changed.
