Twitter Files part 3: The removal of Donald Trump
- nologin33434 4y agoThere seems to be a very close relationship with Twitter and FBI/DHS or many 3 letters US government agencies. There was a news recently on how FBI alleges TikTok poses national security concerns. It seems Twitter is a national security concerns for all other Nations!!!
- akolbe 4y agoWe recently learnt that the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) has meetings with the DHS as well. What really surprised me was when someone in a position to know mentioned in a related discussion on Wikipedia that "The WMF has also worked regarding disinformation regarding Indian and Iranian elections, and this work is not limited to the English Wikipedia (e.g. the main target of many disinformation actors relating to Iran is likely to be the Farsi Wikipedia) which is why they recruited people with knowledge of those languages." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(WMF)#Meetings_about_misinformation_with_FBI,_CISA,_etc https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Village_pump_(WMF)#M..... In related news, the Wikimedia Foundation recently banned about a quarter of all its Arabic Wikipedia admins for conflict-of-interest editing advancing the agendas of "external parties" (mostly related to the Saudi government, judging from a look at the accounts' contributions histories): https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/wikimedia-l@lists.wikimedia.org/thread/NJUOKYM2UTKFH53OKGIXW6OSEEDUI3AL/ https://lists.wikimedia.org/hyperkitty/list/wikimedia-l@list...
- tomohawk 4y ago> [Twitter censor] > ...Weekly sync with FBI/DHS/DNI... > [Twitter censor] > ...Monthly meeting with FBI FITF... What would people think if NYT or WaPo had a weekly sync with FBI/DHS/DNI?
- krapp 4y agoAll mainstream US media outlets maintain close relationships with law enforcement at all levels, it's how they get access. This isn't a scandal.
- tomohawk 4y agoThere is a massive distance between reporters having sources, and reporters/news orgs having a weekly sync where the idea is to enable federal officials to censor what can be talked about. This is about as anti-US as you can get, and about what I would expect in the PRC.
- encryptluks2 4y agoI agree but this is nothing new. I'm more worried personally not about what is being censored due to national security concerns but the agendas and psyops being pushed by these organizations in the news and Hollywood. They should be fined into nonexistence for that.
- dsq 4y agoTrue, although in this case we are discussing active selective silencing rather than mere relationships.
- krapp 4y agoWe'll have to agree to disagree on that interpretation of events. Also, "active selective silencing" is a vague enough term that it can apply to all forms of moderation.

- Georgelemental 4y agoThey do, and it is a scandal. Journalists should not be asking government to vet their stories
