surely you'll agree with me that it's much cooler to have Max Thundercock in your birth certificate than to adopt it as a pseudonym later in life
- Shared404 4y agoHow has the above commenter been misled? If someone uses a name for a context, that is their name for that context. Devine has given talks and performs much of their work under this name, why does it matter when it was taken?
- serf 4y agobecause the original poster was selling people Devine based on how cool a moniker they had. It's a stupid gripe, but imagine that you're an enlisted soldier who is working their way into getting into the squadron lead by 'Tommy the Terrible' -- a simple example but i'm a simple guy, and it relates to battle analogy earlier. Once you arrive you realize that Tommy the Terrible was just given his first command, he was promoted to the position due to being the member of a powerful family, and he commanded his unders to only refer to him as 'Tommy the Terrible', rather than gaining the title through the respect of his triumphs and leadership ability. In other words, a name given by oneself has less impact in most societies than one achieved through achievement or familial ties. Anyway, that whole differentiation is ridiculous within this context, I just thought it was necessary to explain. Devine has earned the cool moniker, self-administered or not.

This is such an unfit simile. Your birth name is not "earned" either. You think Elon Musk's kid earned the name X Æ A-Xii (or deserved depending on your perspective)?
