He posted it in a public platform and he is an executive. You can sneeze wrong and get fired for an exec role, that's why they get paid the big bucks, so they represent the company and lead , no such thing as clocking out. They don't get paid because they work hard.
A senior apple engineer doing the same thing wouldn't get fired.

I think execs should be more mindful of what they say, even outside of work because of the potential reputational damage to the company. However, firing the exec for something like this is a bit much. Everyone makes silly, dark, sexual jokes privately - outside of work. They should have warned him and given him more training about conduct outside of work.
