Every project management tool and methodology was conceived and matured by specific individuals and teams in their specific contexts, relationships, and business environment. Many companies and teams share similar structures and characteristics, but every single one has differences (even at the same company). Just because something worked for some company and team (even ones which are similar to yours) does not mean it will work for you. There have been so many times where a group I've been involved with has rushed headlong into a specific methodology or tool without having a decent grasp on the team dynamics and goals, and then spent precious hours configuring Jira or arguing about how many hours equals a scrum point. Lord help all of you who get that one person who fancies themselves an expert on a specific methodology or tool. What you need are people who are experts at understanding the business and the dynamics of team they're throwing at it.
