- dang 4y agoPlease don't take HN threads into regional flamewar. It leads hellward, and is easily avoidable. https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html Edit: you've been breaking the site guidelines repeatedly lately: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33821967 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33821967 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33766363 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33766363 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33682063 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33682063 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33671032 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33671032 ... and we've already asked you more than once to stop: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32808611 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=32808611 (Sept 2022) https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31520523 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31520523 (May 2022) Would you mind reviewing https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html https://news.ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html and fixing this? - noasaservice 4y agoDo what thou wilt. I'll abandon this account and create another. It's not hard to game the "community" here. And especially since you don't allow deletion of accounts, it's actually a good thing to regularly get new. Thank you for reminding me.
- dang 4y agoYes, I know. But why contribute to destroying this place? If it's interesting enough for you to be here at all, it's worth protecting, no?. More here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33806797 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33806797
- pmdulaney 4y agoGood catch.
- lesuorac 4y agoNot just a photo, 2 photos (one of which _must_ be a drivers license) ! https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/88R/billtext/pdf/HB00896I.pdf https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/88R/billtext/pdf/HB00896I....
- abawany 4y agoesp. since the driver's license number is almost a proxy for the SSN when it comes to credit reporting.
- MaxBarraclough 4y agoSo no social media for anyone with a condition that prevents them from driving, or anyone whose licence was seized for driving offences.
- pmdulaney 4y agoDoes Texas not also issue ID cards, in addition to driver licenses, for those who need an ID but cannot or do not drive?
- Ao7bei3s 4y agoAre the laws going to be written such that accepting the wrong type of ID is the bigger liability, or refusing to accept someone who has a correct but unusual ID? Cause if there's no protection, support for the "other" less common IDs are undoubtedly going to the "not supported at this time" low priority task graveyard of any growth hacking dynamic company. I've had no end of issues before I got an actual US drivers license, which took ~6 months to get after I moved here (DMV appointment waiting times, processing time incl. DHS verification etc.).
- tedunangst 4y agoThey do, but the social media law specifies drivers license, not "photo ID".
- anigbrowl 4y agoSure, just as long as you're not from certain demographics.
