Off topic, but one of my favorite things to do when I was younger - around 7 to maybe 12 or so - was having my parents drop me off at a local library from open until close. The library was decently sized (and has been renovated to expand to a second level) and was like a wonder of the world. I read books and magazines while there and checked out movies and video games when it was time to go home. It was my first experience with Metal Gear Solid, my first time reading Lord of the Rings, and my first time watching an R-rated film (An American Werewolf in Paris, which sucked).
All that to say: libraries, at home or otherwise, are fantastic.
