Uruguay is plotting to poach Argentina’s tech sector
- Kon-Peki 4y agoThis doesn’t seem to be a very well-planned concept. Giving the software industry special tax treatment (0%!) will breed resentment while at the same time weakening the strength of their own economy. If making it easier to get live/work visas isn’t enough to compete with Argentina, they should be seriously looking into fixing their entire tax structure.
- mc32 4y agoProbably not a bad plan. Argentina keeps being an economic basket-case where they think they can defy the international banking system and do things their own way. They are a century removed from the good times of gauchos and beef but they have not adjusted. Good on Uruguay to attract compatible talent with same language, similar culture, but presumably and importantly, a desire to be competitive and not just be complacent --people with drive.
