Ask HN: Do you think a broken hiring process eventually break the company?
I'm not sure if is there any statistics on correlation between "broken hiring process" and "breakdown of revenue" of a company ?
Of course this requires specific definition of "broken".
- emrah 4y agoI'm not sure if it would totally break a company (I don't think so) but it's opportunity cost
- ineedausername 4y agoIt is completely non-deterministic, unless you know pretty much everything about this company.
- orzig 4y agoCompanies are complex systems, operating in a complex economy. It’s something of a tautology to say that a broken hiring system would be bad for the company. If the company has rapid turnover, I could imagine it single-handedly spelling doom (a summer ice cream shack as an extreme example). on the other end of the spectrum, I know somebody who is a deep, technical expert in a small but lucrative niche who has failed to find a “suitable“ junior developer for his firm over about 10 years. I imagine something about his hiring process is broken, But his company is doing just fine and can expect to for 20 more years until he retires.
