We had a bout of a naive executive who wanted to "replace programmers" with such "instant" tools (MS-Power-stuff, cough cough). His team was frustrated that IT was skeptical. I had to write up a 4 page description of why we should tread slowly. Fortunately staff turnover not related to IT ended the nightmare.
I used a motel vs. house analogy. But you had to assume it's not easy to move out of a motel for the analogy work. I'm still looking for a better analogy from the everyday world; some variation of a stitch-in-time-saves-nine.
