Dupe of https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33912060 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33912060 and blogspam (most people I know don't consider WP a credible news source anymore)
Please link directly to the FTC source https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2022/12/ftc-seeks-block-microsoft-corps-acquisition-activision-blizzard-inc https://www.ftc.gov/news-events/news/press-releases/2022/12/...
- grappler 4y agoIt may not be as good a link as the one from FTC itself, but I wouldn't call a leading national newspaper "blogspam". Here for example is a capture of techmeme, which routinely gives media reports more emphasis than a primary source. https://www.techmeme.com/221208/h1530 The L5 heading at the very top of that page is this link we're talking about on this thread. This preference makes more sense I think in cases where the primary source is a company touting its own product, where a media report would be more objective. Then again, maybe you could view this instance as the FTC touting its own product too :)
- jmsflknr 4y agoAlso my submission is a "dupe," but it was posted before the thing it is duping. And second, Washington Post broke the story. At the time of publication, there was not FTC blog. And the only other news outlet that had the news was Bloomberg, but its story was yet to hit the web and was only available to Terminal subscribers.
