It worked out well for governments once. I don't see any clear indication that it would again. I think people are tired of - in some cases - arbitrary measures and I wouldn't be so certain that they'd go along with it in the same way. The real bitch of it is, that if we would now be facing a much more dangerous virus, people might not take it seriously enough due to covid turning out to be not as dangerous as initially thought.
