I've had what I believe to be "tinnitus" since I was a kid. It's not always a high pitched sound, I only get that sometimes, probably like when healthy people get it. The kind of tinnitus I have is what I can only describe as the sound a plane makes mid-flight (at least the one you can hear from inside). It doesn't really interfere with my life, but it can become annoying if I suddenly become aware of it.
