That's a great article. Thanks, it captures the problem well. It seems in my most recently experienced case the decision to re-write has some validity. The client is taking software built externally in house, to unify with modern infrastructure and frameworks. The previous project is .NET Framework, which looks like it will be obsolete in the coming years (or at least hard to recruit for) and will not run on new infrastructure.
