Why would they support a system that hates them?
The message from the media is constantly antimale.
Even James Cameron called testosterone evil. Remember " killallmen" on Twitter.
Remember the force is female?
All the messaging and propaganda has consequences.
- ehnto 4y agoI think it is exacerbated by being isolated online where it can seem like there is a consensus, but such a consensus doesn't actually exist. Talking with people in the real world a much more reasonable and empathetic discourse is more common. Depends on where you live I guess. I guess just remember that social media and regular media is a poor and lossy lens to see the world through.
- ehnto 4y agoPerhaps I should clarify the above. I just meant that social media amplifies opinions that might actually be a minority rather than a majority. It's not a great measure of reality, and "the system" in ths real world still vastly favours men despite online discourse. Some examples of the net not being representative of the majority: if you asked the internet if Trump was going to win presidency, or if Britain would leave the EU, the resounding opinion was absolutely not.
- stuckinhell 4y agoThat sounds reasonable, AND I think we do need to address the question of why so many "authority" figures in the public sphere of influence are demonizing men so aggressively. If it is minority doing, why are they allowed to demonize an entire group of men ? I'm extremely critical of the feminists who pushed #killallmen, that was one of the major things that pushed my brother to kill himself. There is an extreme power imbalance going on, and I suspect a vast amount of average men have noticed and are checking out. Who knows what messages little boys are unconsciously or consciously receiving. I've been a accused of being a helicopter or tiger mother, just because I'm keeping very tight control of media my son watches.
- highstep 4y agowell we know exactly what sort of message little girls receive in this patriarchal society, so in this discussion we need to be careful to not dismiss simple and non-extreme feminist values. Are we really seeing an "extreme power imbalance"? Or is it just a leveling of power with a bunch of men freaking out because their inherited privliage is disappearing?
- norwalkbear 4y agoStop lying. No one saying killallwomen. There ate really nasty messages in social sent to men. Nothing gives people the right to say killallmen. On social media women say men under six feet should kill themselves. Famous women celebrities say men are worthless. Two wrongs don't make a right!
- hezralig 4y agoI suspect the issue is rooted far more in economics than in feminism. The conclusion to your theory though is what, have society collectively lower its standards? Force women out of the work force?
