Do you ever like non-fiction books about a subject you have some expertise in?
I know Calculus so Strogatz's Infinite Powers created no interest in me. On the other hand What is Mathematics by Courant and Robbins was a delightful read.
Similarly I have only read a part of Road to Reality by Penrose and it was also fascinating.
Which popular non-fiction books in your subject domain did you like and dislike?
- kleer001 4y ago(contrarian) Nothin. I don't want to spend time on my job/career/expertise in my free time. I do have some books on it (visual effects), but they're gathering dust.
- PaulHoule 4y agoRarely. I studied theoretical physics and I can't stand books popularizing physics.
- annyeonghada 4y agoI studied Physics and I hate every single "popular" Physics books. Thankfully I come across Physics through Math otherwise I would have never studied it. The real think is so much more interesting than the "popular" one.
- simonblack 4y agoIt's pointless reading about stuff you already know. Unless you want to do it for sheer enjoyment, which is quite unlikely. Of course, you may want to discover a few snippets that you don't know about yet. But those little snippets are few and far between.
