I'm quite happy about how it works here in the EU, can't just fire people on the spot. It's a whole process where you need to map out what roles you need going forward, and then which people should fill those roles, so can't just at random fire people. In our process those in danger of being let go had talks with management and got help from our union to make sure everything was done by the book.
