why?

why?
- kgwgk 4y agoBecause the UK is in Europe. Makes as much sense as a Japanese company referring repeteadly to employees in New York and/or the United States.
- sroussey 4y agoThe UK and EU would be better? From a business perspective, Europe and EU are the same thing, and the UK is not part of the EU anymore.
- tpxl 4y ago> Europe and EU are the same thing Uwot. A significant chunk of Europe is not in the European Union.
- sroussey 4y agoThe American perspective is that that are. Many would hard pressed to say which were in the EU and which were not.
- rsj_hn 4y agoI'm pretty sure that most Americans don't know or care about what the EU is, but they've heard of the UK, Italy, Poland, etc., and would readily tell you that the UK (they would probably call it 'England') is in Europe and that Europe is a continent, not a bureaucracy. Foreign bureaucracies are just uninteresting to outsiders, whereas people go visit Rome, Venice, London, etc.
- kgwgk 4y agoFrom a business perspective, they seem to consider that the UK is part of Europe: https://plaid.com/blog/plaid-hires-head-of-europe/ https://plaid.com/blog/plaid-hires-head-of-europe/ Their site mentions offices in London and Amsterdam. Maybe UK means London and Europe means Amsterdam? (Or maybe they have some employees elsewhere in Europe - they offer their services in several countries... including another non-EU country: Norway.)
- stevehawk 4y agotechnically you wanted "New York and or North Americans"... if you're trying to be pedantic about things you gotta go full pedantic.
- madsbuch 4y agoThe UK is not a city in Europe. Europe in this sense seems to refer to the union, not the continent.
- nathanaldensr 4y agoThey probably should've called it the EU, then. "Europe" refers to the continent--the geographical landmass that the UK is definitely a part of.
- chadlavi 4y agothe UK is not, politically, part of Europe (as in the EU) anymore, even if it is part of the geographic (non-political) region known as Europe.
- squeaky-clean 4y agoIt's more like saying Puerto Rico and The United States
