- tibbydudeza 4y agoThe fiber box at home is 12V so it is easy to power yourself - the local POP has battery backup since it is installed at the same location as the cellphone masts for our neighborhood. The core routers in probably in a datacenter with battery/diesel backup. We had outages in the beginning because they use DHCP for the fiber box to get an IP address so you can imagine a few thousand ONT terminals all coming online nearly at the same time and hitting one DHCP server
