I'm not a car guy so am pretty oblivious to the trends, but I actually stopped and took a photo of an Audi with this a couple of months ago, because it looked fantastic IRL. That's precisely the "wet putty" effect being described. It's quite striking. Often your first way of describing it is "matte" but it's clearly glossy.
